Rather than avoiding failure, there are ways to minimize these overwhelming feelings. Learning how to cope with perceived failures offers a more positive outlook on life — and yourself — when things don’t go as planned.

Accept feelings and emotions. Failure is linked with feelings and emotions such as sadness, anxiety, stress, and rage. Those feelings are incredibly uncomfortable for any person and will do anything to get rid of them. However, the truth is that those feelings and emotions will help you work harder to find different and better solutions in order for you will improve next time. Go ahead and embrace those feelings and emotions, avoiding them can lead to unhealthy coping mechanisms!

Failure does not mean your life is going to be over. Many people believe that failure defines who you are and your future; that statement is not true at all! The truthfulness is that failure is what happens to you, not what is you. We all fail in life in different aspects of life, for instance, job experiences, love life, getting into a university, and other things. You do not need to let your failures define you, that is completely optional.

Learn from failure and be constructive. Learning from failure is one of the biggest challenges and lessons you will have in your life. Understanding what you did wrong will help you mentally more potent than ever and establish specific goals with astonishing strategies. You fail and learn. You fall and get up again. You recuperate, get ready to stand up, and achieve your goals. Get out of the place you are right now and forgive your failure. Most of the time, when individuals find inspiration, they forget about the past and become motivated in the future. If you find yourself inspired, no one, or anything, will stop you. It definitely helps to get out of your own mind and focus on outside sources of information which will give you a newfound perspective.

Don’t give up. Make yourself comprehend giving up is never going to be an option. Make yourself happy and appreciate the time. Prove to yourself you can do anything you want and demonstrate with your actions that the nay-sayers are wrong. Most importantly, success comes to individuals who keep trying and don’t give up.

Surround yourself with positive people. Your environment can make a huge difference in how you confront and cope with failure. Surround yourself with people who motivate you continuously. Your mind is dealing with stress and anxiety, so the best way to not have another burden is to be accompanied by positive people.

Avoid isolating yourself. It is ubiquitous when people have failures to be sad, depressed, upset, anxious, and stressed. Therefore, it is vital to be surrounded by people and feel free to express yourself. There are multiple ways to be surrounded by individuals such as family, friends, positive groups, and others. Do not forget that your mental health is the most important thing, and remember it's not how far you fall, but how high you bounce that counts.

Creamy Artichoke, Kale & Rice Gratin

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 (8.8 ounces) packets of Ben's Long Grain Wild Ready Rice with Herbs
  • 1 (10-oz.) container of refrigerated Alfredo sauce (such as Giovanni Rana)
  • 1 (8-oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened
  • 3 garlic cloves, finely chopped 
  • 2 tablespoons sherry vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon grated lemon zest plus 1 Tbsp. fresh juice (from 1 lemon)
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 (14-oz.) cans of quartered artichoke hearts, drained
  • 4 cups packed chopped kale
  • ¾ cup Italian seasoned panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 ounces Parmesan cheese, grated (½ cup)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Crushed red pepper, optional
  • Chopped fresh parsley, optional

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F. Spray an 11- x 7-inch (2-quart) baking dish with cooking spray or grease with butter. Microwave rice according to package directions. Place in an even layer at the bottom of the prepared dish.
  2. Whisk together Alfredo sauce, cream cheese, garlic, sherry vinegar, lemon zest and juice, and black pepper in a large bowl until smooth. Stir in artichokes and kale until evenly combined.
  3. Spoon over rice into the prepared baking dish. Stir together breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, and oil in a small bowl. Sprinkle the mixture evenly in the baking dish. Bake in preheated oven until golden brown, about 15 minutes. Sprinkle with crushed red pepper and parsley, if desired.
